I am honestly impressed. It still comes off as cover band but a good one. I think they are on par with Dark Star Orchestra. I often end up doing things around the house and all I can hear is the music. I often forget that it is Dweezil and not Frank until Dweezil talks between or in songs. I suggest checking this band out to anyone who digs Zappa.Dogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-45545376129180989142009-06-01T02:06:00.003-04:002009-06-01T02:20:32.044-04:00I Am BackI have tried to log on to the blog a couple times and it wouldn't let me for some reason. Well it has just now finally let me on to add more to the blog. Lately, I have been watching a whole bunch of TV on DVD. Arrested Development has been my main focus over this weekend. If you have never seen this show just go to hulu.com to watch all the episodes. Start from the beginning so you can understand the story. This is one of the funniest things I have seen in a while with witty writing. I am also making it through Star Trek The Next Generation very slowly. It is a good show but I haven't been able to focus on it lately. That will change soon I am sure. I have been watching new movies on almost a weekly basis also. Star Trek is perhaps my favorite of the new movies. JJ Abrams did not let down at all. He kept true to the idea and themes of Star Trek, yet he changed it in ways that I can foresee a positive conclusion. The new Terminator movie was a pretty good film. It had over the top effects (it is a Terminator movie after all) with a good story line. I think it is funny that the 3rd Terminator movie has been treated like it never happened both in the tv series and new movie. Angels and Demons was the last movie I have seen in a theater. I was a fan of The DaVinci Code. I just enjoy Indiana Jones like movies. Well that rule goes for this prequel/sequel to Dan Brown's first novel on the silver screen.

I promise more shows are about to be posted. I have a whole bunch ready for the taking. I want to listen to some so I can review a few for you guys, as opposed to just posting links. All I can really hint at is I hope you guys dig Merl.Dogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-79987715165685480292009-05-05T12:02:00.008-04:002009-05-05T12:21:13.569-04:00So Many Downloads....So I wasn't able to get back into the Dead lists. To make up for that I decided to upload some things for you guys. Well lets get on with the shows.
1972-01-19 Garcia/Saunders
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DVIDRLNC

1972-01-20 Garcia/Saunders
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ULAB1SHX
I haven't got a chance to listen to the 1/20 show yet but 1/19 is amazing. Expressway>Imagine is priceless with highly emotional guitar work from Jerry during Imagine.

1968-07-28 Jerry Garcia/Mickey Hart/Jack Cassidy
This is about a half hour jam with 3 great musicians. They go into some pretty amazing places.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=UU78NUXD

Next up is something I have had for a while. It is called Jammin At The Edge Of Magic. Someone mixed together a bunch of jams (Infrared Roses style) during the Bruce Era. This is 2 discs of almost seamless jams. Pretty interesting stuff.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8H38VG9V
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TDPGABZ0

The Spinjunkies are a group of DJs that have mixed the Grateful Dead with Jay-Z's Black album. Very much inspired by Danger Mouse's Grey Album where he mixed The Black Album with The Beatles White Album. There is a bonus track featuring Outkast's Miss Jackson with West LA Fadeaway.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=DTXVNVVS

I love this concert from the Talking Heads. It is very high energy and very fun. Great driving music. 1984-01-25.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=VZI2FL06

For the last show I recently updated is something a little different. Lucab I am uploading the Rorchester JGB show now along with some others. I just have to remember to not close my browser. If you guys have any suggestions of other shows you would like uploaded let me know. I prefer not to upload any Grateful Dead, The Dead, Ratdog, or Phil since that is all on archvie.org. JGB and The Other Ones though I don't mind uploading. I also have a Talking Heads show that I plan on puttin up sometime soon. Until my next post (which will have NEW DOWNLOADS) thanks for reading.Dogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-10300659959843121292009-04-27T13:17:00.003-04:002009-04-27T13:31:23.485-04:00The Monday BluesThis past weekend was one of the best weekends I have had in a long time. I saw The Malah play a free show in Paris Mountain State Park. They were the first band to play Music In The Woods this year. It was a really enjoyable set, except for those kids on the drums. Music In The Woods is a free concert series, all the electricity comes from solar power. If you decide to go remember there is NO ALCOHOL permitted. This wasn't a problem for me and my friend but it was for others. Then I went to a party after the show which was excellent. The drummer from The Malah made a cameo and we raged it till about 5 in the morning. The next day I went hiking at Paris Mountain down the Turtle Trail. This was sort of disappointing as it led only to the road. I have no idea why they would do that. Also I saw no turtles on this trail only frogs. Well now I have to go to work and only hope next weekend will be as fun.

If you want to check out The Malah go to http://www.archive.org/search.php?query=(collection%3ATheMalah%20OR%20mediatype%3ATheMalah)%20AND%20-mediatype%3Acollection&sort=-dateDogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-8186397961730805252009-04-27T12:19:00.002-04:002009-04-27T12:40:38.930-04:002009-04-26 XL Center, Hartford CT
Set 1:
Bertha
Till The Morning Comes
Little Red Rooster
Row Jimmy
All Along The Watchtower
Glory Road
West L.A. That would mean that The Dead in a way celebrated that great show with these past Worchester shows. However, The Dead didn't play Dark Star which was a stand out song from the 69 show. Just a little piece of history to go along with this tour.Dogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-33898000082780559452009-04-20T20:54:00.005-04:002009-04-21T11:40:05.034-04:00The Worchester Shows 2009It seems I have missed 2 days, I apologize guys. I really dug this find. It was a call in show on the radio. The people that called in were pretty much in shock that they were actually talking to Jerry and Bobby. The questions were a mixture of humor and seriousness. I didn't include any of the songs since they were straight off the albums. I figure if you are downloading this you already have Built To Last and In The Dark.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=PEX0IYL0

Also as a bonus here is a JGB show from 95. I just got this and haven't got a chance to listen yet. It is very early 80's late 70's lite rock. Either way this is hard to come by. This is for those people out there that need everything from the Dead. You will also recognize Tons Of Steel from this album. Also this has some filler with random Brent tunes that were played live with the Dead. I have been driving to work with this album on for the past couple of days.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=9YDTMY9EDogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-69068794152230596312009-04-16T00:08:00.003-04:002009-04-17T02:04:39.380-04:00More Dead 2009 Coverage2009-4-15 Charlottesville, VA John Paul Jones Arena
http://www.archive.org/details/thedead2009-04-15.krall
(Set 1)
New Speedway Boogie
Bertha
High Time
Mason's Children
Big Boss Man
Doin' That Rag
Standing On The Moon

(Set 2)
Playing In The Band>
Crazy Fingers>
Drums>
Space>
St. Stephen>
The Eleven>
Mississippi Half-Step Uptown Toodeloo>
Playing In The Band>
Foolish Heart

(Encore)
G-L-O-R-I-A

Song List
A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall
Alabama Getaway
All Along The Watchtower
Althea
Bertha
Big Boss Man
Big Railroad Blues
Bird Song
Box Of Rain
Casey Jones
Cassidy (2)
Caution
Come Together
Cosmic Charlie
Crazy Fingers
Cumberland Blues
Dancin' In The Streets
Dark Star (2)
Dire Wolf
Doin That Rag
Easy Wind
Estimated Prophet
Eyes Of The World (2)
Foolish Heart
Franklin's Tower(2)
Friend Of The Devil
G-L-O-R-I-A (e)
Glory Road
Good Lovin'
He's Gone
Help Is On The Way
High Time
I Need A Miracle
Jack Straw
King Solomon's Marbles
Lazy River Road (2)
Mason's Children
Mississippi Half-Step Toodeloo
New Potato Caboose
New Speedway Boogie
Not Fade Away(e)
Passenger
Peggy-O
Playin' In The Band (2)
Pride Of Cucumunga (2)
Ripple (e)(2)
Samson And Delilah (e)
Shakedown Street
Slipknot!
St. Stephen (2)
Standing On The Moon
Sugar Magnolia (3)
The Eleven
The Music Never Stopped
The Wheel (2)
Touch Of Grey (3)
Truckin'
Uncle John's Band (e)(3)

(e) means encore (e2) means played as encore twice, the number will keep goin up the more its played in the encore slot. So from now on if a song is played more than once in one show it will more than likely be counted as one. Another example is PITB that was played in tonights show. It was counted as one not two. If anyone disagrees with this counting method please let me know.Dogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-14883394986308919122009-04-15T00:34:00.002-04:002009-04-15T10:34:25.626-04:00The Dead 2009 Song Project and Setlist Update2009-04-14 Verizon Center, Washington D.C.
http://www.archive.org/details/thedead2009-04-14.CMXY4V
(set 1)
Cassidy
Passenger
Pride Of Cucamonga
Easy Wind (Warren vocals)
Lazy River Road
Alabama Getaway (Warren vocals)
Big Railroad Blue

(set 2)
Peggy-O (acoustic)
Glory Road (acoustic)
A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall (acoustic)
Jam>
Dark Star>
King Solomon's Marbles>
Drums>
Space>
Come Together>
Dark Star>
Sugar Magnolia (Tipper Gore on drums)

(encore)
Uncle John's Band>
Ripple

Song List
A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall
Alabama Getaway
All Along The Watchtower
Althea
Big Railroad Blues
Bird Song
Box Of Rain
Casey Jones
Cassidy (2)
Caution
Come Together
Cosmic Charlie
Cumberland Blues
Dancin' In The Streets
Dark Star (3) [Twice in one show]
Dire Wolf
Easy Wind
Estimated Prophet
Eyes Of The World (2)
Franklin's Tower(2)
Friend Of The Devil
Glory Road
Good Lovin'
He's Gone
Help Is On The Way
I Need A Miracle
Jack Straw
King Solomon's Marbles
Lazy River Road (2)
New Potato Caboose
Not Fade Away(e)
Passenger
Peggy-O
Playin' In The Band
Pride Of Cucumunga (2)
Ripple (e)(2)
Samson And Delilah (e)
Shakedown Street
Slipknot!
St. Stephen
Sugar Magnolia (3)
The Music Never Stopped
The Wheel (2)
Touch Of Grey (3)
Truckin'
Uncle John's Band (e)(3)

(e) means encore (e2) means played as encore twice, the number will keep goin up the more its played in the encore slot. Now I feel that is almost a pointless task since The Dead have given permission for AUDS to be on archive.org. A huge thanks for this news is directed at Zooma. He posted about this in his blog Inspiration Move Me Brightly. If you haven't checked out this site you should. It is full of great music and fun thoughts.

PS This is only for The Dead from 2003 on. No SBDS or Matrix only AUD sources. Also nothing from The Other Ones. We can hope that will change right.Dogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-77343396890376780182009-04-12T14:09:00.003-04:002009-04-12T14:18:20.574-04:00Tax Office Pisses Me Off Majorly Pt. 2First off let me start this off on a good note. Make it a great note. I went to a "festival" last night. This is pretty much just a huge party in someone's back yard with a crapload of bands. The highlights were the opening band who was more bluegrass based. Then as the night went on there was a band called Ko from Charleston who was absolutely amazing. There were other bands there but none of them really stuck out. Also the only price was 5 dollars for a cup and you could drink all you want. They had 2 kegs and they were tapped around 11:30, the cops came around 1 to tell the bands they couldn't play anymore. It was a great time. Well, while I was there I got a phone call from a friend. She was wanting to know if I wanted to see the Dead tonight in Greensboro. The answer was yes. The spare ticket that her friends had was only 30 dollars. So far so good. Now for the part that pisses me off. The people that had the ticket needed someone with a car. I have a car but with an expired temp tag. A temp tag that I won't drive out of state because honestly I don't have the money for a ticket. So now I am not goin to see the Dead. Which I excepted a while back. The kicker is I could have seen and afforded it. Damn tax office being closed on Good Friday. Well happy Easter everyone.Dogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-87182372896768674172009-04-10T20:35:00.003-04:002009-04-10T20:54:57.303-04:00Stupidity and the Tax OfficeI am pissed off at the city of Greenville or is the state of South Carolina. So I went to pay taxes on my car today. I have temporary tags which expire on 4/10/2009. That is today. Apparently the place I have to go to pay the taxes is closed for Good Friday. The DMV across the street however was not closed. WTF?!?! The extremely kind lady at the DMV was telling me that the DMV had no idea that the tax office was going to be closed either. There were signs in the doors or anything saying that they were closed for Good Friday either. So now I am forced to drive with an expired temp tag for the weekend. I am also aware that I should not have waited till the last minute but my funds have been lower than normal. Which that is another story, in short I am entertaining the idea of looking for a new job or a second job.

On another note expect to see more concerts posted soon. I just received a crap load of Garcia stuff and I want to share the wealth. As a reminder, The Dead start spring tour tomorrow. So hopefully some more stats and more The Dead shows will be up on the 12th!!!!!Dogstarzhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16472686468120721759noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1388477434922989036.post-59611567481187638272009-04-09T01:16:00.004-04:002009-04-09T01:23:33.475-04:00Megaman Vs. Still how often does the Vice President of the United States speak in the middle of a dead show.

The acoustic show is really good. Although, Bobby does mess up Dire Wolf pretty bad. Check out Bird Song. It is 20 minutes of pure acoustic bliss.

The other shows nothing really stood out too much. Althea was good at Roseland. Cassidy I think was the best played song of the night but the set seemed more of a tease to me.

That Atlanta show I was at. It was the last Dead show until the Deadheads For Obama show in 2008. Down The Road is a standout song from this show. I like it when Mickey sings. Its a fresh voice and his songs are usually rather fun.
